ETHICAL BUSSINES PRACTICE POLICY

1. HUMAN RIGHTS AND LABOUR 

KYKNOS GREEK CANNING COMPANY SA is committed to protecting and advancing human rights as they are defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR)* and the International Labour Organization’s conventions on labour. 

Within this framework we aim to promote respect for human rights within the areas of our influence, including among else compliance with the principles of the ETI code (Ethical Trading Initiative).

KYKNOS GREEK CANNING COMPANY SA assures that:

  • Labour is a free choice.

Exploitation of any person using any form of forced labour is not allowed. Employees are free to quit their work whenever they desire and after reasonable notice.

  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected.

We respect our employees’ right to join, form or not to join a labor union without fear of reprisal, intimidation or harassment.

  • A safe and hygienic working environment is provided in compliance with health and safety laws and regulations.

All adequate measures are taken to prevent accidents and health damage related to or are occurred during work. The aim is to minimize, to the minimum possible extent, the causes and risks associated with the working environment. 

  • Child labour is not present to any area of its activity.
  • Wages and benefits to employees shall cover the minimum sectoral collective agreements or the national general collective agreement.
  • Working hours do not exceed the limits set by national legislation.
  • There is no discrimination based on race, skin colour, religion, gender, age, physical ability, national origin, sexual orientation, political affiliation.
  • No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.

Environmental protection and Environmental Care are a priority of “ΚΥΚΝΟS” GREEK CANNING COMPANY S.A. The company's production activities are fully in line with current Greek and European legislation, while employees are actively and consciously involved in those actions.

Wastewater is treated in the modern high capacity Biological Cleaning Unit. The management of gaseous pollutants is subject to the applicable regulations and through the Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading Scheme, the aim is to limit carbon dioxide emissions. Regarding the management of solid waste, all personnel is highly aware and 100% of solids are recycled through an integrated management waste program of the company production site.

The principal action axes of the environmental care and environmental protection of “ΚΥΚΝΟS” GREEK CANNING COMPANY S.A. are: rational energy consumption, careful water consumption and total waste recycling in its production site. 

These above actions aim to a sustainable development, resulting in increased production with the lowest possible waste in natural resources. Both management and company's staff are committed to the continuous reduction of the organization’s energy footprint.

ΚΥΚΝΟS” GREEK CANNING COMPANY S.A. is committed to meet the requirements of national and international laws related to bribery, corruption or any kind of fraudulent business practices. Business activities are practiced with zero tolerance to bribery, corruption or any kind of illegal business practice. The exchange of gifts in the context of business relations are allowed under certain conditions, depending on the value and intention of the gift. The only acceptable intent for offering and accepting symbolic gifts is to create goodwill and consolidate business relationships.
